CONFRONTATION: A NECESSITY

Confrontation is inevitable on your way to greatness. Any man that dodges confrontation will not last in the place of manifestation. You can’t claim to be having progress without confrontation. Every progressive movement is a call to confrontation. As it is impossible for promotion to surface without examination, so also manifestation cannot take place without confrontation.

I have seen under Heaven many who want to be great without any interest in confronting and solving problems. Life is a battle. Survival in this world comes by readiness to face and conquer the battles all around the world. From time immemorial till now, the best way to true greatness is to locate, to confront and solve many problems bewildering humanity. 

If you are trusting God for greatness, expect great tribulations. To lead your family you must be a problem solver in your home, to lead your nation and your world at large you must be interested in solving the world problems. He who flees from problems and confrontations flees from greatness and fulfilments. No one emerges as a leader or great man without confronting tribulation and challenges, whether at the beginning, middle or at the end of their journey. As a leader, if yours has not come, expect and prepare for it. As a matter of fact, great minds always seek to solve problems. If they can’t find one, they look for it. Don’t run away from challenges and confrontations; instead seek solutions to the problems around you and your promotion will be sure.

Let us consider a great man called David in the Scriptures. He was sent on an errand by his father, Jesse to give his brothers food (I Samuel 17:17). While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance, and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?" The young man, David understood the secret of greatness which lies in solving problems. He inquired what would be done to anyone that faced and killed Goliath (I Sam 17:26). His people were looking at an insurmountable Goliath but David saw a dead Goliath. What you are seeing as problems today will be stepping stones to your greatness if only you can see beyond it. The Scripture says; “And David said to Saul, let no man’s heart fall because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine” (1 Sam 17:32). This statement by David was a powerful one; you can only hear such from a leader and a great mind.

Having discovered what God has called you to do on earth; you must have it in mind that the fulfilment of such cannot come on platter of gold. You must be confronted and challenged to validate the authenticity and the originality of what you carry. The third law of motion says, “to every action there is equal and opposite reaction”. Your experiences today are the results of the steps you took yesterday.  Don’t be discouraged by your present circumstances and confrontation, they indicate that you are making progress.         

The young David consoled and encouraged the armies of Israel never to be afraid of Goliath of Gath. That is the spirit of a leader. David brought down Goliath that very day by courage and God’s backing. That singular act took David from the field to the palace. Nobody knew David and neither was he also interested in showing himself. However, his interest in locating and solving problems brought him out for public recognition and respect.

Jesus Christ is a perfect example of men who faced challenges, problems, and confrontation from the people of the world. Jesus being the son of God makes me wonder why God allowed him to have terrible experiences and temptations. Until I discovered that without the cross there will be no crown. We have so many crownless kings in the world who are not interested in carrying their cross. They are always looking for gains without pains. The Scripture tells us about Jesus; “And being found in the fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death of the cross” (Phil 2:8) Jesus wouldn’t have had this great success if He had refused to face criticisms and confrontations. Despite his reputation and position, He humbly embraced shame and disgrace from the world to save the world.

My friend, there is something special about you that is why you are confronted with so much challenges. Don’t give up on God. Embrace your present situation and allow yourself to be made by it. The Scripture says; “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:2-4). Your present challenges and predicaments suggest to me that there is greatness in you which must be expressed by patience and the wisdom of God. James said, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5).

You are more than conqueror Rom 8:37.
