DIVINE ENCOUNTER PART 3 BY TOSIN ADEGOKE
PROTOCOLS FOR ENCOUNTER
ALONE WITH GOD
Most men who encountered God don't experience such in the crowd. Most encounters come to man when he is alone with God. So, maintaining personal relationship with God can't not be rule out of a man who really want to enjoy celestial visitation. Many people come to church but, few are registered in the spirit realms as a candidate of the kingdom. I enjoy God better when am alone with Him. It is good to fellowship with brethren yet, that does not rule out your personal and intimate fellowship with God.
Encounter with God is individualistic. You should not base your faith and your testimonies on what you see God do in the life of another person in your church. You must get God for yourself. This starts by separating yourself to be alone with Him. The true test of your Christianity cannot be done when you are among brethren, rather, when you are on your own. If you don't have a private relationship with your maker, you are just increasing the number of people in your church.
AVOID PRETENCE
To enjoy your personal relationship with God, you must avoid pretence in His presence. You cannot deceieve God, you need to be true and open to Him. Those who don't enjoy God in their secret places lack that attribute of openess and readiness to God. Don't limit your seriousness in God's presence to your church service. God seems hidden and untouchable for many because they embraced pretence and falsehood.
It is good you learn how to come to His presence just as you are. There is nothing hidden before Him. You are on your way to encountering God if you avoid deciet, and cry unto Him for help. Be deliberate in your pursuit of God. Genuine encounters are not products of begging and pushing. Any encounter you received without your consent will soon leave you. You must consciously seek encounter before you can enjoy and retain the experience.
A perfect example of people who were so deliberate and desperate for encounter was Elisha. 2king 2:7-15. Elisha refused to take no for an answer, he followed and pursued his master till he finally received the double portion of the spirit of Elijah. As a result, Elisha shook and revealed the supernatural power of God to his generation.
TARRY IN PRAYER
Men who pray see God. The major protocol to encountering God is prayer. You can't be lazy in prayer and expect the hand of God to be mighty upon you. You can only tarry in prayer if you are prayer addict. Our generation is void of power for lack of prayer. We really love manifestations but hate and lost our appetite for prayers.
Encounter is gotten by a persistent prayer life and it can only be sustained by prayers. Any encounter you received without prayers will dry off like a grass without water. There are many anointed believers today who throw away their anointing for a lack of fire on their prayer altar. The eternal destinies of many sons of God have be truncated for lack of effective prayer life. Men ought to pray always and not faint (Luke 18:1). If you are not praying you are fainting. What would a fainting man do in his generation? Of course, nothing!
SUSTAINING YOUR ENCOUNTER
You don't just receive divine encounter and proceed to your bed to be sleeping. An altar must be built on every encounter we have so has to sustain the effect of it or rather enter into a new dimension of another encounter. An accumulation of different encounters without a viable or living altar can be tantamount to waste of divine resources or blessings.
Encounter can only be sustained by building a viable altar in it. Jacob made an altar for the Lord in Bethel (Gen 28:18-22) for a consistent communion with God. Don't abandon that your so-called little encounter, you can actually go deeper in God by "fanning to flame" that which the Lord has given to you.
Moreover, the Bible tells us about Enoch who walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. There can’t be a walking together without being together with someone. What orchestrated Enoch's walk with God was the divine visitation he received, embraced and upheld. The word encounter is synonymous to divine visitation. Encounter brings a touch of eternity/divinity on a man, but walking with or in the reality of this encounter is what birth eternity in such man.
YOU ARE THE NEXT
Moses encountered God on Mount Horeb in a burning bush (Exd 3:2), the bush was burning but not consumed. Every encounter comes with the revelation of the person of God and His power. It brings supernaturality to a reality.
The encounter that Moses had changed his level from an ordinary shepherd to a deliverer. He stopped the business of leading sheep around the bush to leading God's own people. My friend, that is what encounter can do for you. It will reposition you and place you on high for maximum impact.
Jesus Christ in the days of His flesh also encountered God when He was baptised by John the Baptist (Matt 3:16-17). There was an open heaven and the Spirit of God descended like a dove and lighted upon Him. What encounter does is beyond what mortal man can explain. It unlocks and provokes the unused, untapped, and inexpressible dimensions of God in us.
Jesus Christ understood the importance of encounter to a believer that he instructed His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem for an unusual visitation before they launched out. Luke 24:49, Act 1:4&8, Act 2:1-4. The early church was built on the encounter that the Apostles had in the upper room. If these testimonies are true, it is certain that you are the next, if you will arise.
No one can counter a man with a
genuine encounter.
