QUENCH NOT THE SPIRIT PART 1 BY TOSIN ADEGOKE

"The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly." Proverbs 20:27  

Walking in darkness is automatic when light is gone. The Bible refers to the spirit of a man as the candle of the Lord. Desisting from giving attention to your spirit is the fastest way to quench or put off the Spirit. The result of this is walking in darkness. Darkness seizes from being darkness immediately light appears. So, what we call darkness is nothing but the absence of light. A dead spirit is a dead life and of course, Man is a spirit.

If you put off your spirit, you cut off God's dimension of you. That scripture says the Spirit of a man is the candle of the Lord, not your own candle, "God's candle". Why are you so concerned with your physical look while you remain ugly in the spirit. If your spirit is the candle of the Lord, I expect you to pay more attention to ensuring his healthiness. Your shout has been God where is your face, are you not powerful to save me from this mess? This is purely the implication of man's irresponsibility. The candle has been placed in you to give you light and direction. It is your responsibility to guide it jealously and don't allow it to be put out. 

The hope of our victory is in our spirit. Imagine what would happen to you if the Spirit has been short down or short out. Fear or timidity is in the heart of men who are dead spiritually. 2 Timothy 1:7 unveils that "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The presence of fear in a man indicates lack of spiritual consciousness. If God has not given us the spirit of fear then, we experience fear for lack of spiritual agility. We are sure of constant victory if we consciously and deliberately feed our spirit man with the word of God.

"The death of a man's body is not his end but spiritual death affects eternity." Spiritual bankruptcy and poverty are the greatest evils that have bewildered humanity in our generation. As it is germane to engage monetary investment to stay up financially on earth, so is spiritual investment necessary for outstanding and victorious Christian life. We must consciously ensure constant spiritual investment to stay relevant in this dark world. 

To engage spiritual investment, you must know who exactly you are dealing with. You don't just pack your money to anywhere for investment without the understanding of the person you are dealing with. To save money in the bank you must first of all know the bank you are going to, not just the name but every detail you need for a successful investment. Then you go ahead and open your account. It is very important to be registered in the spirit before you can be qualified to guide and invest in the spirit.

 Open your Account

The day you open your mouth and accept Jesus Christ has your saviour, you have an automatic account full of all the redemption package. Revelation 5:12 "...Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing." All these are in Christ Jesus. You can only access them if you consciously accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then you can make withdrawal anytime any day.  

Agree with me that majority of the people suffering around in the society today without Jesus in their lives can also have access to this powerful spiritual account by getting to know the person of Jesus.  Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Make decision to allow Him in your life today and your will never remain the same. Don't stay away from Jesus, stick to Him to avoid shame and spiritually bankruptcy. 

Nothing pays than Jesus. Wherever you are reading this post from, you know if you have given your life to Jesus or not. If yes, but in one way or the other you are out of him to pursue after vanity, Just come back to Him he is ever waiting to receive you. Tell him to come into your life this moment for a life long relationship. The world is waiting to see what will become of you, Jesus Christ is the only one who can bring you out for signs and wonders in your generation. All you need to do is to agree with Christ and submit totally to Him. 

The antecedent to many people's struggles is the fact that they are full of themselves. Without God you can do nothing. The source of all good success is God. Don't go about chasing shadows when you haven't chase God. The only way to spiritual advancement is the incessant pursuit of God. The unrelenting panting for God is the secret to carrying the fullness of God. Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."

It is true you have given your life to Jesus but, up till now you are on your own while Jesus is on His own. Nothing like relationship or fellowship with Jesus again because you are now very busy. What you are doing to your spirit is dangerous to your Heath. You might not know this until you are faced, face to face with devil, trying to express power like yesterday and you are as empty as nothing. Remember Bro. Samson and run to your altar right now for help. 

Proverbs 18:14 "The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?" Living a powerless life is inevitable when all your investment is on your fleshy desires. You can't be sowing to the flesh and be reaping in the spirit. If a man is too careless to sow into and empower his spirit, he is too weak to conquer the devil. Your ability to overcome the world resides in your spirit man not your muscles. Your physical strength can take you no where.
